A message was sent to me today from Matt. He is inside the central campus, and it sounds like he is doing fine. The note read.
Madie,
Hope everyone’s doing okay. Tell Jonas I’m sorry about his eye. I lost my footing on that last hit. My chin’s healing, so don’t worry about me.
I can get into most of the central campus now, but a few sections are still off-limits. Guards are everywhere.
Tell Tony I found Scat. I saw him today. He’s a slave. I couldn’t talk to him. The slaves are watched all the time unless they’re working. I’m sure the other lost boys are here too.
Wrestling is a big deal here. People challenge each other to duels all the time. I’ve stayed out of it because nobody thinks I’m worth challenging. They’re probably right. I haven’t tried to move up in rank. The higher your rank, the better you eat and the more freedom you get.
I’m keeping my head down and learning what I can.
